After spending
several summers in Southampton, Bob
purchased an aesthetically challenged house
in need of major restoration on Upper Sag
Harbor Cove in 1998. A separate garage was
annexed to the house and turned into a
spacious, open kitchen overlooking the cove.
A second-floor walk-around cupola offers views of Upper Sag Harbor Cove, Shelter
Island and even the Sag Harbor Village
Municipal Building.
After
subsequently renovating a historic house on
Suffolk Street, Bob then moved on to replace
a house on Rysam Street with a historical
replica of modular construction - the first
of its kind in Sag Harbor. A real estate
agent for Prudential Douglas Elliman in New
York City in the 1990s, Bob eventually
became an agent for the local office of the
company due to the quantity of Sag Harbor
properties he bought and sold.
Bob considers
the village of Sag Harbor to be one of the
last remaining historical villages in
America. Inspired by the houses in the
village, most of Bob's turn-key houses also
feature many historic details and either are
fully restored to their original character
or are designed to be a "new" old house.
Today, after restoring or building more than
a dozen houses, Bob finds Sag Harbor to be a
timeless village with an outstanding future.
